Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDEFTP)

Are you a student currently pursuing a degree in a transportation-related discipline?
Are you currently conducting research in a transportation-related discipline?
Are you considering entering the transportation field after you complete your degree?

If so, you may be eligible for the DDEFTP!

The Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program aims to provide funding for students pursuing degrees and conducting research in transportation-related disciplines*.

All selected student Designees will receive up to $1,500 USD to attend the
Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual meeting in Washington DC, on January 7-11th, 2024. 

All Student Designees may not receive a full award (i.e. tuition, stipend, and travel to TRB Annual Meeting).
Fellowship award will be based on the rankings from the local Selection Panel. 
Awards range from $1,500 - $10,000 USD.

Student Eligibility Requirements

Students Must:

• Be in an applicable class standing:
  • Undergraduate: Junior, Senior
  • Graduate: Masters, Doctoral
• Be pursuing a degree in a full-time program in a transportation-related discipline*
• Have at least one full academic year remaining in their program of study
• Conduct ongoing research in a transportation-related discipline*
• Plan to enter the transportation profession after completing their degree program
• Cannot have participated in DDETFP for two consecutive years from the same Institution of Higher Education (IHE)
  • Graduate Students: Must possess a baccalaureate degree from, or be a confirmed graduating undergraduate senior at, an Institution of Higher Education (IHE) which must be accredited by a federally-recognized accrediting agency and must be located within the U.S. or its territories, both administratively as well as the campus the student attended

Student Application Requirements

All application materials (besides requested forms) must be typed. 
A complete application must contain all of the following:

• SF 424 Individual Form (we will send you this)
• Student File Information Sheet (we will send you this)
• Official Transcripts
• Resume
• Two Letters of recommendation (one of the letters of recommender must be from the current Faculty Advisor)
• Application Essays:
  • Personal Statement & Research Plan 
  • Impact Statement
• Non-US-Citizens: Must also submit a valid copy of their Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) 1-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Status” 1-20 OR “Permanent Resident Card” I-551 issued by the U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS).

*Transportation Related Disciplines

This list is not comprehensive, and other disciplines may be approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) DDETFP Manager on a case-by-base basis.
