CSULB Fiber Department showcased in exhibition at Palos Verdes Art Center
At the Palos Verdes Art Center, the exhibition 9x9: Contemporary Quilts and Containers showcases 18 artists all working in the California fiber art community. Co-curated by CSULB Fiber faculty Carrie Burckle (alongside Jo Lauria) this show presents innovative interpretations of traditional craft forms, these dynamic quilted, woven, plaited, and twined works investigate the purposes and techniques through diverse media. These artists transform conventional quilting and container-making practices into sophisticated contemporary expressions. The exhibition also has CSULB fiber artists: Professor Fafnir Adamites, Professor Emirita Carol Shaw-Sutton and alum Elise Vazelakis.
9x9: Contemporary Quilts and Containers will run from January 25 through April 12, 2025. It will have its opening reception on Saturday February 1, 2025 from 6pm to 9pm. There will also be a Curator's Tour on Saturday March 8 from 1pm-3pm.
