Assistant Professor in Geology Wants Students to "Shock Themselves" with Success

Andrea Balbas, assistant professor of geology in the Department of Earth Science, was featured in the Long Beach Business Journal for using her own life story to mentor and inspire students to succeed no matter their age or background. Balbas said she always knew she wanted to help students realize their dreams and help them surprise themselves with their own success.
