Racial Equity Leadership Alliance
On March 3rd Student Affairs kicked off its partnership with the USC Race & Equity Center as an inaugural member of the Racial Equity Leadership Alliance by participating in the first eConvening. This eConvening was hosted by Dr. Shaun Harper who presented on: Navigating Political Resistance to Racial Equity. Student Affairs will participate in 8 more eConvening focused on Racial Equity throughout the upcoming year.
As part of this partnership all CSULB staff and faculty will have access to Equity Connect. This portal is for employees of colleges and universities that are members of the Racial Equity Leadership Alliance. It includes video recordings and resources from eConvenings, as well as other downloadable racial equity resources. This portal also allows individuals to form and actively participate in virtual communities of practice. Posing questions of practice, offering advice to colleagues, sharing effective practices, and fostering new collaborations are all possible in virtual communities. This partnership is part of Student Affairs’ explicit commitment to engage in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) work in a consistent and ongoing way that is substantive and impactful. Faculty and staff can register for Equity Connect by selecting "California State University" and entering a CSULB email address.
