CSULB Professor Says Recovering an Ecosystem in an Orange County Oilfield Will Take Time

Christine Whitcraft, a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Director of the Environmental Science and Policy Program at Cal State Long Beach, told a reporter with KPCC and the LAist, that the recovery of an oil field recently purchased to become a preserve will take time. Professor Whitcraft said while planting new vegetation may take place right away, a full and functioning ecosystem could take as long as five to ten years to return.
