CSULB Professor Explains the Criticism of Women Who Don’t Meet the Mother Stereotype

Cal State Long Beach professor of gender and sexuality studies, Shira Tarrant, spoke with USA Today about why the joint custody of children by celebrities Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis, tends to be more critical of Wilde as a mother. Professor Tarrant spoke of how we elevate mothers as a stereotype, but when that stereotype is broken “we knock her off that pedestal and take her down.”
