Chemistry is an experimental science with a solid foundation in theory. The general aim of chemistry is to discover everything possible about the characteristics of matter. A major in chemistry prepares the graduate for employment in the chemical industry, for pursuing advanced studies, or for careers in the teaching profession. It also provides an excellent basis for continuing a career in human and veterinary medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, engineering and law. A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for a person desiring to enter the field of chemistry.
