Career Profiles: Human Development
The Human Development program provides students with a broad knowledge of lifespan human development, specific expertise in processes and contexts that affect development, methods to evaluate research and theory within human development, and practice in the real-world application of knowledge gained in the program. The field of Human Development studies lifespan development within societal and cultural contexts. Accordingly, Human Development is interdisciplinary, examining development primarily from anthropology, biology, psychology and sociology. They focus on the interrelationship between an individual's biological and psychological development, the socio-cultural environment in which that development takes place. As a result, Human Development asks students to think in complex ways about social and individual phenomena and prepares graduates to live and work in a diverse and dynamic global society.
