Programs & Projects
Our University Relations team supports a wide range of programs and events that serve multiple Beach audiences. While offerings evolve over time, this is an overview of the meaningful ways that members of the Beach family connect with their beloved university. In addition to these programs and events outlined below, the team supports broader community outreach, state and federal advocacy work, and intergovernmental relations. University Relations also serves as secretariat to the 49er Foundation, Alumni Council, and President's Council for Strategic Initiatives.
Commencement
New graduates are the focus, but Commencement brings together the entire Beach family.
Founders Week
Special events highlight the annual celebration of the legacy of the Beach since our founding in 1949.
Winter Festival
This annual reception and community concert featuring student talent kicks off the holiday season.
Beach Nexus
Our online professional networking platform features alumni-to-alumni and alumni-to-student mentoring.
Beach Voter Coalition & Beach Advocates
The Beach Voter Coalition is an alignment of campus and community-based organizations focused on student, faculty, staff, and community civic engagement activities developed to encourage student voter participation. Beach Advocates brings together a network of alumni, volunteers, and friends with a commitment to supporting higher education, the Cal State system, and CSULB.
Beach Digital Ambassador
Play a vital role in helping our Beach community grow, all while staying connected to the university in a variety of capacities. Beach Digital Ambassadors are volunteers who help spread Beach messaging by accessing and sharing interesting content through their personal social media accounts.
Women and Philanthropy
Since 1998, Women & Philanthropy has furnished donors with rewarding opportunities to work collaboratively, alongside other accomplished and dedicated women and men, to assist CSULB students who are returning to campus to complete their undergraduate degrees or whose majors require participation in costly or time-intensive research or creative activities.
Greater Long Beach Community Events
Look for the Beach Cabana, staff, or team at an array of community events, from Long Beach Pride to the Chamber of Commerce annual dinner.
Community-Based Organization Sponsorships
The Beach strives to be a good community partner by collaborating with community-based organizations and government entities to address our society’s most pressing social needs. The Beach event sponsorships proudly support community activities such as, but not limited to, charity galas, conferences, community fairs, and events throughout our service area. The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed on behalf of CSULB.
Beach Docents
Certified alumni volunteers that serve as campus ambassadors in support of activities for the various divisions or departments.

Alumni across the nation call admitted first-year, transfer, and graduate students to congratulate them on their acceptance to CSULB, share their Beach experience, and encourage them to attend.
Beach Athletics Alumni Nights
Join in alumni events at home Big West Conference openers, tournaments, and championships across sports in the Beach Athletics program.
