Robin Richesson
Robin Richesson is a freelance illustrator living in Long Beach, California. She works primarily as a storyboard artist, production illustrator and costume illustrator in the film and television industry. As a storyboard artist, Robin collaborates one-on-one with the director to create a visual plan for shooting the scenes to achieve continuity, narrative strength and dramatic impact. Her credits include American Beauty, Aeon Flux, Jennifer’s Body, Evan Almighty, Starship Troopers, Mars Attacks!, Peter Pan, Jack Reacher, The Fantastic Four, Smurfs 2, and Destroyer (2018 feature release). She appears on the special features of the Aeon Flux DVD (“The World of Aeon Flux” featurette). She has storyboarded episodes of The Romanoffs (AMAZON), Goliath (AMAZON), G.L.O.W. (Netflix), MadMen (AMC), Castle (ABC), Grace & Frankie (NETFLIX), Future Man (HULU), Preacher (AMC), Counterpart (STARZ), and Black Monday (SHOWTIME).
She collaborates directly with costume designers to visualize their designs, often collaborating on research. Her costume illustration credits include the films Forrest Gump, Beloved, Contact, The Spiderwick Chronicles, War of the Worlds, Buddy, The Polar Express, Little Women, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Unbreakable, Stuart Little, Mars Attacks!, Cable Guy and IRONMAN, and most recently If Beale Street Could Talk.
Production illustration includes visualizing key moments and set designs in the form of illustrations, designing/illustrating various objects (props) to be created by the appropriate artisans, designing murals to be painted by scenic artists, and the creation of “on-screen props”, such as artwork appearing in a film or episode. For example, she has created book cover artwork, maps, visual aides, and custom board games. As a production illustrator, Robin’s credits include Small Soldiers, What Lies Beneath, The Grinch, Castaway, Contact, Viva Rock Vegas, Park & Recreation (NBC), True Blood (HBO), Jane the Virgin (The CW), The Good Place (NBC), I Love Dick (AMAZON).
Robin has illustrated for magazines, newspapers, educational companies, fashion clients and children’s books. She served as Art Director/Illustrator for the social work online journal Reflections: Narratives of Professional Helping, and illustrated the regular column “History of Dress” for The Costume Designer magazine for many years. She continues her work in the entertainment industry, and on other personal illustration projects, including a graphic novel.
