PPOWER Project Team - Relationships Between Substance Use and Sexual Risk Behaviors

February's Brown Bag Research Talk will feature Dr. Laura D'Anna, Jaelen Owens, and Carol Canjura from the CSULB Center for Health Equity Research. The presentation is called The Relationships Between Substance Use and Sexual Risk Behaviors for Young Black Men Before and After COVID-19-related Stressors: Findings from the PPOWER Projects. The Peer Promotion of Wellness and Enhanced Linkage to Resources(PPOWER) Project Team will present findingsfrom the first PPOWER Project on the roles marijuana and other substances play in increasing sexual risk behaviors among a sexually diverse sample of young Black men. Preliminary findings related to how these behaviors have been impacted by COVID-19 will also be presented.

The talk will take place on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 12 pm – 1 pm on Zoom. Brown Bag Research Talks will be hosted monthly this semester by the Center and will feature the research of Latinx faculty and CSULB faculty conducting research on Latinx health and health disparities, as well as of other underserved communities. No RSVP is required for these events.
