General Information

What is a Council?

In order to be a fully recognized and active chapter at CSULB, each individual chapter must be recognized under one of four governing councils. Led by executive boards consisting of chapter leaders within their respective councils, each council serves as an umbrella organization assisting and supporting their member chapters.

Who can I contact regarding each council?

  • Interfraternity Council (IFC)

CSULB's Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing body of the social fraternities on campus and is comprised of representatives from each of its member organizations. IFC includes 11 chapters affiliated with the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). The executive board works year-round to provide an enriching collegiate experience through different member development programming and collaborate efforts with chapter leadership.

Although these organizations are cultural or identity-based, they are not identity-exclusive. The council strives to create and maintain an all-inclusive and culturally diverse environment, by fostering cultural awareness and upholding fraternal and sorority values.
