Parking Daily Rate Increase

Parking is implementing a daily rate increase over the next three years. The increase is designed to adequately match fees to program costs while also establishing price points that encourage the use of sustainable transportation options, which reduce parking demand on campus. The single-day permit and patron parking rates will increase by $1.00, starting July 1, 2017. The rates will then increase by $1.00 each subsequent year through July 1, 2019. The new rates are as follows:

Effective Year New Rate
July 1, 2017 $8.00
July 1, 2018 $9.00
July 1, 2019 $10.00

Pay-by-space (short-term) pricing will also increase incrementally each year. Pay-by-space fees vary depending on the length of time a space is occupied. Any questions please email parkinggeneral@csulb.edu.

Click. Learn. Grow. June Skillsoft Spotlight: Building Trust

Trust is the glue of life. It's the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It's the foundational principle that holds all relationships.” — Stephen Covey

Leadership today is all about two words: It’s all about truth and trust.” — Jack Welch

Looking for tools to help with building trust on your team? Check out these resources:

The Building Blocks of Building Trust is a 29-minute course for anyone who wants to develop or refine their skills for developing and sustaining trusting relationships. You'll explore what makes you and others trustworthy, how to demonstrate trustworthiness, and the importance of extending trust to receive trust.

Or, a 25-minute course, Trust Building through Effective Communication, focuses on communication, which is most effective when you build and maintain the trust of the people you communicate with. Learn how clear intention is the basis of effective communication, and how understanding your audience ensures that the message is successfully delivered. You'll also learn how body language, vocal tone, and managing emotions can influence your communications and build trust with your audience.

Leadership Trust: Build It, Keep It is an excellent book from the Center for Creative Leadership. A quick read, this 48 page book provides some examples of initiating both individual and team-level trust conversations around specific issues that deal with ability, integrity, and loyalty. You'll learn to choose between sharing performance feedback and initiating deeper trust conversations.

Another good resource is Breaking the Trust Barrier: How Leaders Close the Gaps for High Performance, by J.A. Venable. All team leaders worry and wonder about improving team performance. Using his experience leading the precision U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds aerobatic team, the author shows that "closing the gaps" is the job of leaders and followers alike. Our job is to entice those in our wake to close the gaps on our teams — gaps in commitment, respect, and integrity that slow us down.

A professional development plan can be created in conjunction with your ASM and appropriate administrator, and can be completed electronically through this program. Appropriate administrator approval must be obtained in advance to complete coursework during work hours.
