Japanese Garden Receives Award for Sustainability Leadership
The California Association of Museums and the California Natural Resources Agency have selected the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden to receive the Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Sustainability. The Japanese Garden’s award is in recognition of the Green Generation Mixer and Sustainability Project Showcase. This is an annual event hosted in collaboration with the CSULB Office of Sustainability and Sustainability Task Force. The event celebrates student and faculty sustainability-related research and creative projects. The event also provides a venue for campus and Long Beach community members to connect with sustainability leaders from local nonprofit organizations, city agencies, and green businesses. The Japanese Garden’s longstanding support for this event is motivated by its commitment to advancing the university’s educational mission, sustainability, and climate action goals. For more about how the Japanese Garden supports campus sustainability and student learning, please contact Jeanette Schelin at jeanette.schelin@csulb.edu.
