Military Tuition Assistance Return Policy

CSULB’s policy is that any unearned tuition assistance (TA) funds will be returned to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) based on a proportional basis through at least the 60 percent portion of the period for which the funds were provided. TA funds are earned proportionally during an enrollment period, with unearned funds returned based upon when a student stops attending.  In instances when a Service member stops attending due to a military service obligation, CSULB will work with the affected Service member to identify solutions that will not result in student debt for the returned portion.

Students who withdraw or drop in units after the deadlines have passed may also appeal for a Special Circumstances Refund. When a refund is requested due to a serious medical condition or injury beyond the student's control, the student should NOT request a special circumstances refund. Instead, the student must complete a Medical Withdrawal Petition form obtainable at Enrollment Services BH-101. Refunds will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.
