Associate
Major: Aerospace Engineering
Hails From: Torrance, Calif.
Research Interests: My research interest includes designing and manufacturing a new "intelligent" and artificial lumbar disc to be implanted into those with back injuries or pain.
Personal Interests: In my free time I love to ride my motorcycle and dirt bike and hang out at the beach with my friends.
Favorite Scientist: As a visionary, Elon Musk has always inspired me to push the boundaries of what I think is possible, not only for myself but for everyone else as well.
Fun Fact: I love to play chess and solve Rubiks Cubes.

Maxine Robinette
Year One Scholar
Major: Psychology
Hails From: Oxnard, Calif.
Research Interests: Behavioral Neuroscience, Behavioral Medicine, Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychiatry
Personal Interests: I love to read books across most genres, draw and paint, watch documentaries, listen to podcasts and work out at the SRWC
Favorite Scientist: Mary Whiton Calkins informally studied at Harvard University alongside some of the most profound male psychologists at the time. Although she completed the requirements for a doctorate degree, Harvard refused her Ph.D. because she was a woman. She went on to become the first female president of the American Psychological Association and became of the most influential psychologists.
Fun Fact: I know how to play the guitar.

John-Edward Poli
Year Two Scholar
Major: General Biology
Hails From: Long Beach, Calif.
Research Interests: Muscle physiology, muscle growth/recovery, stem cells, pathology and exercise physiology
Personal Interests: Basketball, bowling, comic books, movies, competitive fighting games and video games
Favorite Scientist: Shinya Yamanaka (Japanese Nobel Prize-winning stem cell researcher)
Fun Fact: I won the BUILD's research elevator speech contest two years in a row
