Liz Curtis
Liz Curtis received her M.F.A. and B.A. in Dance from California State University, Long Beach.
She currently teaches Beginning Ballet and Introduction to Ballet in the Dance Department and Pilates in the Kinesiology Department. She also teaches at Chapman University: all levels of Modern Technique, Improvisation, Choreography II and Freshmen Alignment in addition to mentoring senior BFA students for their Senior Solo Showcase. Previous teaching appointments include Rio Hondo College (Pilates) and Glendale Community College (all levels of Jazz Technique, Salsa, Commercial Dance, Improvisation/Composition and Latin/Standard Ballroom) Prior to teaching in higher education, she taught and served as the dance school director at Caballero Dance in Atwater Village, Los Angeles, CA.
She has experience teaching, performing, and choreographing in both the commercial and concert dance worlds. Her performance experience includes concert works by Doug Varone, Gerald Casel, John Pennington, Susan McLain, Cyrus Parker-Jeannette and Rebecca Bryant. Her commercial dance experience includes work in film, television, music videos, international tours, cruise ships and Las Vegas shows. Her choreography has been presented on stage, television, festivals, screendance and site-specific works. Her recent screendance, Beyond, premiered this summer at the 92Y in New York.
In addition to dance, she is a graduate of The Sanford Meisner Center's Professional Acting Certificate Program in North Hollywood and she received her Pilates certification with Dance Specialization through BASI under the training of Karen Clippinger.
