Marwa Azab, adjunct professor of psychology and human development at Cal State Long Beach, explained in Yahoo Life how the neural chemical dopamine may be a reason why children tend to become agitated when a television show ends or a favorite toy is taken away. Azab said we have a baseline of dopamine in the brain but when an activity or stimulus releases more dopamine, the brain is tricked into thinking the activity is necessary for survival.
