Cal State Long Beach ranks No. 3 in producing underrepresented graduates
Cal State Long Beach is ranked third nationally for producing bachelor’s degrees for underrepresented minorities, according the recent release of Diverse: Issues in Higher Education’s “Top 100 Producers of Bachelor’s Degrees, 2019.”
Based on data from the report, 71% of graduates comprise the 2019 underrepresented minority group at the Beach. That figure includes graduates who identify as African American, Asian American, Hispanic, Native American or two or more races.
Cal State Long Beach has been a Top 10 producer of bachelor’s degrees to minorities for the past several years. The 2017-2018 academic year saw 4,252 bachelor’s degrees awarded to Beach minority graduates.
The “Top 100” ranking is the only nationwide report that focuses on the impact of institutes of higher education in conferring degrees to minority students.
