A Night to Remember

He asked her attend Homecoming 2017 festivities with him and the date was going well until it wasn’t. Somewhere between the barbeque and tip-off of the men’s basketball game, she changed and turned into someone – or something – he didn’t recognize.

Cal State Long Beach theater students got into the Halloween spirit and elaborate costumes then had some fun around campus enacting a Homecoming story, which entailed Shewolf, aka, Reka Nassai, carried her unconscious (dead?) date, Harry LeSeur, from the Pyramid on a dark night.

A look around the University Theater revealed Dracula, aka, Pedro Jaime Campos, hiding in the curtains, waiting for his next victim. Beware.

Several students helped get the three into character with their make-up talents. Janelee Rodriguez and Minerva Francisco designed the Shewolf look, while Caroline Elliott was responsible for Dracula’s ghoulish appearance.

The theater wasn’t the only spot on campus haunted by creepy characters. The basement of the psychology building was turned into the Doll Factory, where disturbing characters roamed with knives and threatened to turn visitors into unblinking glass-eyed dolls.

The bloody body parts, broken dolls, deranged actors and spidery hallways were the work of the Psychology Student Association and Psi Chi National Honor Society as part of their annual haunted house fundraiser last week.

On Halloween, students can find more spooky fun at the Halloween Mixer from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Nugget. The holiday event is sponsored by College of Liberal Arts.

Afterward, head over to Beach Pride’s Spookville for games, activities, a movie and pumpkin painting at the USU North Lawn from 6 p.m.-10 p.m.
