Men's Success Initiative
The Men’s Success Initiative at CSU Long Beach aims to empower, guide, and support men of color at CSULB and cultivate a Brotherhood of college-graduating and succeeding students. The Men’s Success Initiative exists to improve persistence, retention, academic excellence, and post-baccalaureate trajectories for all participating students. All students, regardless of sex, race, color, national origin, and/or any other protected identity, who are interested in the program’s mission and focus are welcome and eligible to participate. The program places emphasis on three foundational tenets:
1. Empowering men of color to achieve both personal and academic success;
2. To challenge antiquated perceptions on gender and masculinity; and
3. Develop a thriving community of Brothers by retaining undergraduate men of color. While each of these is critical, an overarching theme of brotherhood also encapsulates the experiences for the men of MSI Long Beach.
