Beach Academy Summer Grant
It's never too early to start thinking about summer!
The Beach Academy Summer Grant will cover the cost of up to 6 units of summer tuition at CSULB. Availability and tuition coverage varies.
The application has been emailed directly to eligible students and is due on Friday, Feb. 17th.
Eligibility
- Beach Academy identified
- Committed to your academic success and attaining your undergraduate degree at CSULB
- good academic standing (2.0 gpa or higher)
- if your gpa is lower than a 2.0 - additional steps are required. Learn more at our info sessions.
- Completed 27* units or less by the end of Summer 2022 (includes AP/IB and transfer credit)

- Completed 13* units or less by the end of Fall 2022 (includes AP/IB and transfer credit)
*14 units can qualify if enrolled in SOC 170/HDEV 190/PSY 110 plus the STAT 90 support course or other 4 unit course and 1 unit support course
If you are required to take Writing preparation course (ENG 100A, ALI 140/145) and/or a Math support course (MATH 92A, 94, 95, STAT 90) in your first two semesters, then you are considered a part of the Beach Academy.
- Attend an info session to learn how to apply for the Beach Academy Summer Grant.
- Applications will be sent out via email at the beginning of the Spring 2023 semester to those who are eligible.
- For F21 Cohort students, it does not affect your Spring 2023 enrollment as eligibility is based on your completed units as of the end of Summer 2022.
- For F22 Cohort students, your course schedule enrollment should be limited to 12-13 units if possible. If this is not possible due to courses required by Major Specific Requirements, please reach out to our office.
- Courses must be taken at CSULB
- Course options will vary according to summer course offerings and availability
- Eligible courses must apply towards your remaining graduation requirements per your Academic Requirements Report
- Speak with your Academic Advisor to determine what courses would be beneficial for you to enroll in
Students who accept the Beach Academy Summer Grant are required to complete a contract committing to your academic success over the summer. You will also be required to meet with an assigned Peer Mentor to help you stay focused and on-track over the course of summer session.
