Brown Bag Research Talk - Dr. Kristina Lovato
The first Brown Bag Research Talk of Spring 2020 will feature Dr. Kristina Lovato presenting "Enforced Separations: The Impact of Immigration Enforcement and Deportation on Latinx Families in Los Angeles." Dr. Lovato joined the School of Social Work faculty as an Assistant Professor in the Fall of 2017. Her research focuses on enhancing child and family well-being for vulnerable and undocumented immigrant families, particularly those subject to immigration and/or child welfare involvement. Her current work examines how Latinx youth cope with family disruption following the deportation of a parent and how schools and social service providers respond to the needs of these immigrant families.
The event will take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at SSPA-028. Brown Bag Research Talks will be held by the Center twice a semester and will feature the research of Latinx faculty and CSULB faculty conducting research on the health of Latinx communities or health disparities.
