Quick Start Guides
These guides are designed to walk you through the process of student film production for all scripted productions associated with an approved Department of Cinematic Arts (CINE) production class assignment. Here, you will find directions on how to navigate the world of CINE Production and understand the various kinds of assignments you may encounter.
These guides are a supplement to the full CINE Policies & Procedures, not a replacement. The main site should be referenced for further information. Links have been added throughout these documents, leading to specific sections of the website.
Assignment Types
In CINE, we classify production assignments into two categories: In-Class Assignments & Approved CINE Productions. All other productions are non-CINE approved productions and are not supported by CINE.
Understanding these classifications will provide clarity on the expectations, requirements, and resources available for your filmmaking process. Further information can be found on the Assignment Type page and additional information on resources can be found under the Use and Misuse of department resources page.

Flowchart
We created a flowchart to help students move through each step of the pre-production process. It should help students more easily understand the different pre-production forms and the order in which they are to be completed. If students have any questions or confusion, please be sure to ask CINE Production Office or their instructor for additional help.
