Steps to Attend Commencement

Important Commencement Deadlines:

  1. BY MARCH 1: complete the application to graduate to be included in your college's digital Graduate Recognition Program/booklet, future commencement-related communication, and in both Tassel/MarchingOrder and the RSVP/Tickets.
  2. Late FEBRUARY/early MARCH TBD - APRIL 17: 
    • Login to Tassel/MarchingOrder portal via your CSULB STUDENT EMAIL for HOW TO instructions, or check the COMMUNICATIONS tab to see the email that was sent:
      • Record the correct pronunciation of your name (optional).
      • Check all your information is correct, including your name/preferred name, major, and degree BEFORE April 17, 2025!
  3. MARCH TBD: Commencement tile will appear in SSO of eligible graduates
    • RSVP to your ceremony in order to receive guest tickets (mandatory if you are attending the ceremony) via your CSULB STUDENT EMAIL with Guest Tickets Instructions included and through the COMMENCEMENT tile in SSO. 
    • Secure guest tickets for your ceremony. 12 tickets maximum. Instructions will be emailed in addition to those listed here on the website: Step-by-step process: GUEST TICKET REDEMPTION. 
    • Download the MLB Ballpark App and set up an account WITH YOUR CSULB email account (if you have one), as that is where you'll receive your tickets.
  4. WEEKLY: Keep track of Key Dates & Deadlines listed under the FOR GRADS tab at the top of the commencement website.
  5. READ: 
    • The FAQs! It has a comprehensive list of Q&A's compiled over the years from students.

  6. CHECK your emails for commencement information and check our COMMUNICATIONS tab for a list of email and social media announcements you may have missed.
  7. ATTEND the fun Grad Events leading up to commencement. For details, go to the Grad Events page here.
    • MARCH 10-13: University Bookstore Grad Fair for all your commencement accessories.
    • APRIL 18: Senior Send-Off Soiree Application for this unique event will open in March TBD, 2025
  8. ON YOUR CEREMONY DAY (May 18-22, 2025): Arrive at Angel Stadium 1.5 hours (90 mins) before the start of your ceremony to check in at the tables at GATE 4, pick up your Grad Pass to cross the stage, and line up for the Grad processional inside Gate 4. Please read the FAQs and bag policy for what you can bring into the stadium.
