First Year Initiative (FYI)

College of Business (COB) is excited about our First Year Initiative!

FYI, Our student success is our first priority –  by taking the stress out of scheduling essential classes for the first semester at the Beach, FYI students are automatically enrolled in two courses.

FYI, This learning community pairs courses students need with built-in support of other business students in the Class of 2024 and linked classes.

For Fall 2020, 117 students from our Class of 2024 will take two courses together.  The anchor course they will take is ACCT 201: Financial Accounting and taught by Professor Xuan Huang. In the afternoon, students will attend one of three courses: BLAW 220: Intro to Law & Business Transactions, IS 100: Critical Thinking and Information Technology Literacy, and IS 233: Office Productivity Software.
