Microbial Ecology Lab
Dr. Jesse Dillon, Principal Investigator
The microbial ecology lab focuses on studying the ecology, physiology and diversity of microorganisms in coastal and extreme aquatic environments. We use a combination of molecular ecology, traditional cultivation and isotopic approaches to investigate the environmental factors that govern the distribution, abundance (community structure) and activities of microbes. We use these techniques to study both planktonic and mat-forming benthic communities.
