Nancy E. Buckley earned her Ph.D. in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Georgetown University Medical School. She then did post-doctoral work at NIH where she was instrumental in developing the peripheral cannabinoid receptor (CB2R) knockout mice. She is currently a professor in the Biological Sciences department at Cal Poly Pomona (CPP). Her research focuses on investigating the roles of sex and CB2R and the effects of cannabinoids on yeast infections. Her research work has been funded by diverse agencies/institutions including NIH, USDA and CPP. In addition to teaching and conducting research, Dr. Buckley is the program director for the NIH funded Bridges from the M.S. to Ph.D. program.
About the Seminar Series
The Seminar Series is a unique opportunity for students to learn about new developments in biology and what biologists do after they graduate. Hosted by the Department of Biological Sciences at California State University, Long Beach, the weekly meetings invite guests from universities, research laboratories, and industry to present and discuss current topics in biology. All students are encouraged to attend.
