No Excuses – Being Accountable

We are about eight months into the fiscal year, which means we should all be well on our way to achieving goals and objectives identified in our annual performance evaluations or other goal-setting processes. When you have check-ins with your supervisor or manager, are you demonstrating that you are on track or do you need help in making yourself accountable?

Developing a Personal Accountability Framework is a 24-minute course in which you learn about the importance of personal accountability. You also learn strategies for developing a personal accountability framework by setting goals, developing an action plan, managing priorities, and staying focused and energized. Taking responsibility for meeting your objectives, including deadlines and work targets, is an important component of good business etiquette and demonstrates your attitude of professionalism. While it can be difficult at times, being accountable for delivering on your objectives shows you are reliable, organized, and dedicated to your work.

Have more time? Check out this two-hour course which has several downloadable resources, including four job aids and six SkillBriefs. Working for Your Inner Boss: Personal Accountability will help you understand that not only is there someone else on the organizational chart that directs your work; you also have an inner boss that influences the results of your work. In this course, you will learn how to listen to your inner boss, how to identify your internal standards, how to create a plan to meet those standards, and how to apply your inner boss's guidance to be accountable.

The 85% Solution: How Personal Accountability Guarantees Success: No Nonsense, No Excuses is a book that describes that we should all accept no less than 85% of the responsibility for the outcomes of our actions. By taking the three important steps outlined—be responsible for the success or failure of everything you do, empower yourself to succeed, and be accountable for your actions—you will have the keys to taking control of your own success.

An electronic professional development plan can be created in conjunction with your ASM and appropriate administrator through this program. Appropriate administrator approval must be obtained in advance to complete coursework during work hours.

Access to these training resources is available on the Staff HR Skillsoft training spotlight webpage.
