Child and Family Center Open House - Friday, April 6, 2018
The Child and Family Center, an accredited program from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, located in the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Building, will hold its annual Open House from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018, in FCS Rooms 107 and 109.
The center, a nationally recognized student-teacher training facility, provides childcare services for CSULB employees and their families for children 18 months to five years of age. The Open House is an opportunity for families to receive enrollment applications and information, meet the lead teachers and administrators, learn about the center’s curriculum, and the only day to tour the facilities. 39th Annual Nobel Laureate Lecture – Wednesday, April 11, 2018
The College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics Student Council is very proud to present the 39th Nobel Laureate Lecture on Wednesday, April 11. William Phillips, Ph.D. was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1997 for the development of methods to cool and trap atoms with laser light. The entire campus community is invited to a general lecture at 11:00 a.m. and a technical lecture at 4:00 p.m. Both lectures will be hosted in the USU Ballrooms. This event is also co-sponsored by the Dean’s Office of the College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics, and Associated Students, Incorporated.
Industry Spotlight: The Spirit of Entrepreneurship in the Arts

Come learn about the entrepreneurial journeys of local artists, the different industries, and the diverse avenues one can take in the Arts at this Industry Panel and Networking Mixer. Educators’ Job Fair – Friday, April 13, 2018
On Friday, April 13 from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m., students are encouraged to come by the USU Ballrooms and view more than 85 employers including school districts, charter schools, tutoring programs and more. Open positions statewide and across the nation will be available for students, credentialed and non-credentialed, with an interest working in education and youth focused organizations. CSULB President’s Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW)
Nomination Deadline Monday, April 16, 2018
The CSULB President’s Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) is seeking nominations by Monday, April 16, 2018 from the campus community for the following awards:
The Advancement of Women Award: The commission will honor members of the campus community who actively contribute to the advancement of women through their scholarship, teaching, campus service, and/or community service. All women and men who are current members of the campus community are eligible for the award.
The Honoring Community Organizations and their Campus Partners Award: PCSW also honors community-based organizations that — in their collaborative efforts with California State University, Long Beach — have demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of women.
Nominations may be submitted by the same person for different categories. Confirmation of receipt will be provided within two business days. If application is not acknowledged as received, please contact Nina Flores at ext. 5-7972. Selected nominees will be recognized at the Women’s Research Colloquium on Thursday, April 26, 2018.
The President’s Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) serves the campus community through initiating, advocating, and implementing action that addresses the concerns of CSULB women students, faculty, staff, and administrators. 2018 Women’s Research Colloquium – Thursday, April 26, 2018
The President’s Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) will host its signature event, the 2018 Women’s Research Colloquium, at the Pointe in the Walter Pyramid on Thursday, April 26, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The evening will highlight scholarly research that contributes to our understanding of issues and causes important to the advancement of women.
The Colloquium will feature presentations by Dr. Tianjiao Qiu, Associate Professor of Marketing in the College of Business Administration and Dr. Jeannette Acevedo Rivera, Assistant Professor of Romance, German, Russian Languages and Literature in the College of Liberal Arts. The cost including dinner is $20.00. Payment may be made in advance or at the door on the evening of the Colloquium. Even if you are unable to attend, you are invited to sponsor one or more students.
