CSULB BUILD (Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity)
Annual Research Symposium 2018
Friday, March 2, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The BUILD Symposium offers a great opportunity for CSULB students and faculty to learn about the fascinating health research conducted by CSULB, partner faculty, and BUILD students. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Cynthia A. Gómez, founding director of the Health Equity Institute at San Francisco State University. Dr. Gómez has been a leading scientist in HIV prevention research since 1991. This event will take place on Friday, March 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the USU Ballrooms. Pow-Wow – March 10-11, 2018
The annual Pow-Wow event on campus is on Saturday, March 10, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, March 11, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The two-day celebration held in the upper campus quad will feature American Indian music, dance, food, and arts and crafts. Admission and parking are free. Please note that Lots E7, E8, E9, E10 and E11 are reserved for vendor and participant parking, so available spots for faculty and staff will be limited.
White Shark Public Forum - March 10
Join the College of Natural Science and Mathematics and our local Assemblyman Patrick O’Donnell for an educational event featuring special presentations by CSULB Shark Lab Director Chris Lowe and Long Beach Marine Safety Chief Gonzalo Medina. A brief question and answer period will follow the presentations along with an opportunity to tour the widely renowned CSULB Shark Lab! The event is on Saturday, March 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lecture Hall building, Room 150. RSVP for the lecture series.
LB Giving Day – Thursday, March 15
On Thursday, March 15, Long Beach State will be holding its first LB Giving Day, a 27-hour global fundraising drive where students, alumni and community supporters can show their “Beach Pride” and donate. The focus for the inaugural LB Giving Day will be on generating support for Basic Needs, Study Abroad, General Scholarships and Beach Fund. Donations will be accepted online starting at 12 a.m. Eastern Standard Time to 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, and on campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Philanthropy Fair, which features Instagram giveaways, opportunity drawings, information booths and food trucks.
2018 Grad Fair – March 13, 14 and 15, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The 2018 Graduation Fair is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, March 13, 14 and 15, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day at the University Bookstore. Graduating students will be able to order their cap and gown, custom sashes, receive discounted pricing on Grad Packs, $20 off diploma frames and have professional grad portraits taken. New Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargers in Two Parking Structures
New wall-mounted, ChargePoint Electric Vehicle Chargers will replace the current charging stations in the Palo Verde South Parking Structure and Pyramid Parking Structure. The new chargers will be activated and available for use on Monday, March 5. There is a 4-hour limit when charging an electric vehicle within campus parking structures.
