Student Filming on Campus
Objective:
A filming permit is required for student filming on the campus of CSULB. This procedure applies to all Film and Electronic Arts Majors who are conducting filming for class credit.
Film students are required to comply with the terms and conditions of Campus Rules and Regulations as well as Cinematic Arts Policies and Procedures. Students must receive production registration number prior to filing a Request to Film on Campus. If you need assistance, contact your instructor or email Film@csulb.edu.
For submission timeline,
- Scripted Productions
- This application must be submitted a minimum of 15 business days in advance of the filming date for processing by the department and Campus Events.
- Creative Non-Fiction
- This application must be submitted as soon as possible, but no later than 5 business days in advance of the filming date for processing by the department and Campus Events.

Prohibited Locations:
- Puvungna 22-acre land on Bellflower and Determination Drive
- Public Restrooms
- Brotman Hall
Filming Restrictions:
- Do not feature building or corporate Names (e.g., Coffee Bean, McIntosh Building).
- If requesting to film inside residence halls, bookstore, convenience stores, eateries or the library, an additional 5 business days are required for processing.
- Campus location rental fees must be paid in advance (no later than 1 day prior to reservation date). Location rental fees for the bookstore, eateries or convenience stores MUST be paid via check or cash. Other location fees may be paid by check, cash, or credit card.
Filming Date Restrictions:
- No filming on days the campus is officially closed. See Academic Affairs Calendar.
