We are a Data Science Learning Community in Long Beach whose purpose is to empower racially-minoritized students and communities through robust community engagement, mentoring and research experiences for underrepresented high school, community college, and university students, and professional development of educators.

Objectives

• Create a diverse Data Science learning community in the city of Long Beach consisting of high School, community college and university students, instructors and researchers through engagement in projects of relevance to communities of color in the city. 
• Identify an equitable pathway for all students enrolled in the Introduction to Data Science (IDS) course at LBUSD high schools to undergraduate degrees at CSULB that prepare them for MS degrees, certificates, or careers in Data Science and related fields.
• Develop Data Science curriculum at CSULB and LBCC that centers the priorities and challenges faced by communities of color in the greater Long Beach area.
• Develop and provide ongoing professional development for teachers in LBUSD and faculty at LBCC and CSULB to teach Data Science effectively.
