What is a weapon?

A weapon is anything that can be used to hurt or injure someone.

When can I have a weapon?

Some self-defense weapons can be carried on campus within legal limits. For example, you can carry pepper spray for self-defense as long as it's not larger than 2.5 oz. and contains a "Warning" label.

What weapons are not permitted on campus?

Most weapons are not permitted on campus. Refer to the chart below for a list of approved and banned weapons on campus.

*Knives are banned on campus unless they meet these specific criteria: Must be folding and cannot open automatically (i.e. by a clicking button). The blade cannot be longer than 2.5 inches and can only have one sharp edge.
