9th Grade: Start Your College Journey

  • To map out your A-G college preparatory classes, begin on the Academic Planner at californiacolleges.edu and the High School Planning Chart.
  • Review your high school plan with your counselor and make sure it helps build a strong foundation in math, English, and more advanced coursework for 11th and 12th grades.
  • Discuss your college plans with your parents and begin saving money for the application and test fees. You may qualify for a fee waiver.
  • Inquire about scholarships at your career center and apply for them – check out FastWeb.com.
  • Invite your parents to college fairs.

  • Get involved – Sign up for clubs, organizations, volunteering, and/or sports.
  • Earn As & Bs in all A-G classes.
  • Refine your study skills to learn more effectively.
  • Apply for scholarships.
  • Practice Self-Care.
  • Ask for help – List all people who can help you achieve your goals and academic success.
