New Faculty Learning Community: DEIA Excellence in the Beach Classroom 

The Faculty Center is launching a new Faculty Learning Community focused on DEIA Excellence in the Beach Classroom. Open to all tenure-track and lecturer faculty. 
 

Academic Advising Registers 11,000+ Students 

It is with great appreciation that we acknowledge the hard work of all our academic advisors, who advised and registered over 11,000 students this summer. Our continuing enrollment, AUL and first-year retention are also up for Fall 2024, and academic advisors play a huge role in those accomplishments as well. Thank you for your dedication to and support for our students. You are critical to our students' success. GO BEACH

Liberal Arts Dean Selected for Becoming a Provost Academy

College of Liberal Arts Dean Deb Thien has been selected as a member of the 2024-2025 cohort for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities' Becoming a Provost Academy (BAPA). 

Faculty member receives $600,000 to study supports for adults with disabilities

CSULB Associate Professor Kelli Sanderson and Vanderbilt University Professor Meghan Burke were awarded the three-year grant by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research.

Dr. Gail Frank Gets the Gold

Dr. Gail Frank, Director of the Nutrition and Dietetic Internship Program, recently acquired "Gold Level" status as a member of CSULB for 35 years.

37th Annual CSULB Student Research Competition

The Student Research Competition will feature oral presentations to an audience of fellow students, university community members, and a jury of distinguished faculty. The 37th Annual Student Research Competition will take place Friday, March 7, 2025.

Leave a Legacy with Planned Giving Webinars

The Office of Planned Giving is set to present two complimentary estate planning webinars this month. The first, "Basic Estate Planning Workshop: Wills, Trusts, and Peace of Mind," is scheduled for noon Sept. 24. The second, "Advanced Estate Planning" is scheduled in partnership with CSULB's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 11 a.m. Sept. 25.

Get On Your Feet

The CSULB College of Education has just begun offering a single subject credential in dance that teaches curriculum development, lesson design, teaching methods and classroom management for K-12 schools. It also includes clinical fieldwork supervised by veteran dance teachers.

In Memoriam

Armando Vazquez-Ramos, faculty member and founder of the Chicano Studies department/degree at CSULB, passed away in August. We thank and we honor all the contributions of Mr. Vazquez-Ramos on behalf of the Beach.

Richard Alatorre, faculty member and pioneering Chicano activist, passed away in August. We thank and we honor all the contributions of Mr. Alatorre on behalf of the Beach
