The Wang Family Excellence Award grants recognition to four extraordinary faculty members and a remarkable staff member who demonstrate their dedication to student success, excellence in teaching and scholarship, and furthers the mission of the California State University system through their daily efforts and continued achievements.
As a two-time alumna of Cal State Long Beach, earning her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Studies and Doctorate of Education degrees, Dr. Crutchfield is a Professor in CSULB’s School of Social Work and offers ground-breaking leadership as the Executive Director of The Center for Equitable Higher Education.

Her leadership in The Center for Equitable Higher Education has fostered a more inclusive and supportive environment for all students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds.

She actively engages with the community, participating in various initiatives aimed at improving access to education and resources for marginalized populations. Her commitment is evident in every aspect of her work, making her a true beacon of hope and progress. Just this fall 2024, Dr. Crutchfield was awarded the California Conference of Equality and Justice Annual Humanitarian Award, a significant testament to her ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of marginalized communities through her research and service and in support of the public good.
I look forward to witnessing Dr. Crutchfield's continued success and contributions to the field of social work and beyond. Her passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence serve as an inspiration to us all.
