President's Messages

Dear OneBeach Community, I write this in the midst of an ongoing tragedy in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank that intimately affects many in our Beach community.  The conflict engulfing the region is horrifying, and the loss of innocent lives is heart wrenching. 

Dear Beach Community: I offer you a hearty welcome to a new academic year, with special greetings to our new students, faculty, staff, and administrators arriving at The Beach for the first time. At the start of each semester, I feel such energy and optimism about what's to come. I wish you every success as 2023-24 gets underway.

Dear Beach Community, As we continue implementing our Beach 2030 vision to create empowering environments for all, I issue a challenge to each of you and to myself. This challenge is inspired by findings from the recently released external audit of the CSU system related to the handling of Title IX infractions.

I am delighted to announce that Cal State Long Beach, together with the California State University system, will be closed on Monday, June 19, 2023, in observance of Juneteenth. This day, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates the freedom of African Americans, has been designated as a permanent holiday for all CSU campuses.
