UPDATE: Returning to campus

Published February 4, 2022

Dear Beach Community,

I am looking forward to our Monday, February 7 resumption of face-to-face instruction for our in-person classes. (For students unsure about how course instruction will be offered in a particular class beginning next week, they should consult BeachBoard, the online schedule of classes, or with their instructor.)

I have so appreciated your flexibility over the past couple of weeks during our primarily virtual environment – a step we took to help keep our community safe during a surge in the number of cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

As a reminder, you must complete the online pre-arrival health screening questionnaire each day you come to campus. It is available on the university's single sign-on webpage. If you have any questions about the screening process, contact the university's partner in offering this service, PRC, at 562-985-8722.

Also, please remember that you must wear a face covering when indoors on campus. Surgical or KN-95 / N-95 masks are required of faculty and staff, and strongly recommended for students. Detailed information about this and other safety measures remains on the university's COVID-19 website

Our return to offering face-to-face instruction won't be without its challenges and likely stumbles. As a community, I encourage all of us to be patient and understanding. Navigating our reunification requires many new processes and tasks. I am confident that by working together we'll be able to deal with issues as they arise and be successful in facilitating a safe and enriching environment.

We will continue to monitor the evolution of the pandemic and respond to applicable public health guidance as we move forward.

I hope to see you on campus in the weeks to come.

Jane Close Conoley, Ph.D.
