Dr. Neda Karami-Mohamadi
Dr. Neda Karami-Mohamadi joined CSULB in Fall 2024 as an assistant professor. Karami served as an assistant professor at Drexel University in the Engineering Technology program. Prior to that, she received her PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Mechanical Engineering, completing multiple research & teaching assistance fellowships.
Karami's research areas include: Dynamics, control & vibrations, wave propagation, soft materials, soft flexible & wearable devices, autonomous systems & unmanned robots, human-machine interaction, and vehicle dynamics.
Dr. Cody Karcher
Dr. Cody Karcher joined CSULB in 2024, completing his post-doctoral research at the University of Michigan Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) Lab. Karcher completed his PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT, focusing on developing optimization algorithms suited for aircraft design.
Karcher's research interests generally reside at the intersection between applied mathematics and aerospace vehicle design. This includes optimization, uncertainty quantification, physics based model development, mathematical modeling, and surrogate modeling. He has applied these interests to a number of practical aircraft design problems including novel configurations and powertrains for subsonic commercial transport aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and sustainable aviation. He also has interests in model verification and validation, and sub-scale testing.
Dr. Xin Qin
Dr. Xin Qin's research interests are in ensuring the safety of cyber-physical systems through formal methods, predictive monitoring, verification, and machine learning.
Dr. Alessandra Bonazzi
Dr. Alessandra Bonazzi will join the CECEM Department this January. She received her PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Southern California, and is currently completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Davis, where she studies the numerical modeling of contaminants.
Bonazzi’s research interests are multidisciplinary and focuses on understanding geological formations in a way to guide policy makers in the management of natural resources.
