Did you know that we host a senior foreign service officer assigned to our campus as a Development Diplomat in Residence? USAID, the US Agency for International Development, has two DDIRs, and we are the West coast hosts. The program is meant to recruit students into federal careers in the foreign service, but we are very lucky to have an exceptional DDIR, Karen Klimowski, who does so much more. She is available to visit classes, guest lecture, meet with students about federal internships and careers, and more. She is herself a CSU grad (SDSU) and has worked in public health in the OC, as well as the CDC before her work at USAID.

Please join me on Friday, Nov15th, to close out International Education Week with a faculty salon featuring Karen. She will talk about the foreign service, working with USAID, and some case studies of development projects she has worked on. We will have a welcome from President Conoley, plenty of time for questions and discussion, and great food.
