Please join the American Studies program on Tuesday, October 8th at 5:30pm for a talk by Dr. Silvia Rodriguez Vega. The talk, “Drawing Deportation,” will celebrate and feature Dr. Rodriguez Vega’s recent book, Drawing Deportation: Art and Resistance among Immigrant Children. Co-sponsored by AMST, Chicano/a and Latino/a Studies, History, Sociology, and the CLA Scholarly Intersections program, this talk will provide key insights into how immigrant children presented creative, powerful solutions to anti-immigrant rhetoric and harsh immigration laws. This talk is part of a series to lift up themes of Carceral Entanglements, and the 50th Anniversary of the American Studies program at CSULB.

Dr. Silvia Rodriguez Vega is a community engaged artist and scholar who explores anti-immigration policy and new methodological tools that center art and creative expression in her research; she also focuses on structural inequality, mixed-status families, transborder relations, undocumented youth and children, and arts and artivism through performance and digital media.
