My time at Long Beach State was an incredibly rewarding experience. I was lucky enough to have a car on campus, which allowed me to make many friends and take them home on the weekends. I still keep in touch with some of them to this day, even though one of them passed away a couple of years ago. My degree in civil engineering set my career in motion, and I was offered several jobs in March of that same year. I accepted a position with the city of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering and had a 32 year career with the city of Los Angeles, most of it with the Los Angeles Department of Transportation. After I retired, I opened my own consulting firm. I am grateful for the degree I obtained and the lifelong friendships I made while I was in school. My greatest takeaway from my time at Long Beach State is the knowledge and skills I acquired, which enabled me to have a successful career and the relationships I built that have lasted for many years.
