My experience at California State University Long Beach was truly transformative. I had the pleasure of being taught by Dr. Deeds, who unfortunately has passed away. She was not only the department chair, but also my professor for three courses. One of those courses required us to write an imaginary grant, and I chose to focus on menopause. I did extensive research and even had footnotes. Little did I know, Dr. Deeds was actually working on a real grant about the same topic and asked for my permission to use some of my research. I was incredibly flattered and honored by this. Through her guidance and support, I gained a lot of confidence in my abilities. I remember my first presentation in her class, I was shaking like a leaf. But Dr. Deeds was so kind and wrote me a note saying there was nothing to be nervous about and that I did a great job. This experience helped me develop more confidence in public speaking and presentations. Overall, my time at California State University Long Beach was filled with valuable lessons and unforgettable experiences.
