I'm proud to be a graduate of Cal State University, Long Beach. After graduating high school, I was inspired to attend the school in 2016 when I was looking for a college close to home. When I visited the campus with my cousin when I was looking for a new educational home, I felt a connection to the school because, I was raised and rooted in Compton, but I was born in Long Beach and I wanted to expand my horizons; so I went straight from high school to this university. When it comes to educators that impacted me the most were Mr. Keith Fulthorp, Ms. Nancy Matthews, Ms. Laurel Richmond and Ms. Patti LaPlace, my recreation professors throughout my college career. They made me feel free and inspired me to use recreation to help people on a mental, emotional and spiritual level through something as simple, yet world-changing and impactful as play, recreation and leisure and engaging in what calms, centers and relaxes . What makes me most proud to be a Long Beach State graduate is the diversity of programs and degrees available, as well as the landscape of the college which provides many places to go and people to meet. It took me seven years, but those seven years has greatly impacted me, given me the tools towards perspective and understanding others, and made me further expand my worldview. My Bachelor of Arts degree and my time at CSULB, I'll forever treasure and look back on with grace, fun, good times and engaging my mind.
