On graduation day, I was tired from working night crew at Vaughn's Grocery Market and going to school in the morning. I remember my commodities class with Professor Harlow, and how he said the Dow would never get over a thousand. It was remarkable to see how far it has come since then. My education at Cal State Long Beach helped me get into the aerospace industry and understand how business is run. I was lucky to have the right connections and spent 34 years in the industry. On the day I retired, I was extremely happy. I now give back to the college by chairing the MBA advisory board and mentoring students. I want to help them grow and teach them to give back, which has been one of my biggest goals.
