Implement actions that strengthen CSULB and support the aspirations of community members.
  • Implement innovative, entrepreneurial, and forward-looking actions to strengthen the institution and support the aspirations of community members.
  • Prioritize our campus community’s health and well-being.
  • Build infrastructure and adopt practices to promote sustainability and withstand climate uncertainty.
  • Increase financial capacity through mechanisms such as legislative advocacy, philanthropy and community and industry partnerships to withstand economic volatility and further contribute to the economic development of the City of Long Beach and our region.
  • Be nimble and proactive in an ever-changing technological landscape to support transformations in access, engagement, resilience, teaching, learning and research.

Monumental shifts in the way we work put a magnifying glass on many of our university’s operations — from our telecommuting capabilities to our use of physical space on campus.

Imagining unprecedented challenges and opportunities higher education may face is essential to planning a resilient future for CSULB.

Resilience — our capacity to adapt and move forward through times of change and difficulty — requires that flexibility, support, and foresight are built into the foundation of our institution.

That’s precisely the mission of the Division of Administration and Finance at CSULB, whose dedicated staff members lead meaningful support services across campus that promote public safety, sustainable infrastructure, financial prudence, and our auxiliary partnerships. This past year, DAF leadership helped shepherd numerous projects that demonstrate alignment with CSULB’s mission to cultivate resilience, a cornerstone of Beach 2030’s strategic priorities.

In a decade marked by rapid technological advancements and rising automation, at CSULB, modernizing the university to meet the expectations of today’s students, faculty, and employees is central to cultivating resilience for our institution.

Reimagining what we think we know about higher education is the ethos of Beach 2030.

Our journey through the decade is guided by this mindset, and when it comes to faculty, we aim to question, like everything, our commonly held beliefs about how their work, service, and evaluation ought to be structured.

As many Beach 2030 projects get underway, a financial plan focused on identifying and prioritizing strategic funding opportunities is crucial to realizing our long term goals.

From academics to culture to physical space, examining all areas of university operations is vital to truly reimagining CSULB for the better.
