Facility Reservations

FEA and the University has a variety of facilities available to film in. FEA Lighting Studio and PadNet T.V. Studio reservation is for approved FEA registered productions and faculty in-class workshops only, and only when not in use for classes. 

Studios may not be used for rehearsals, auditions, casting and other non-approved usage. Please see “Alternate Locations” section for rooms for this use.

Reservation Deadlines

  • One week in advance and does not require an On-campus film Permit. 

Reservation Procedure

FEA registered production Studio Request

  • Speak with E-Center to see if the studio is available for your dates and required use.
  • Complete this Sound Stage Reservation Form via DocuSign 
    • 20 business days prior to the reservation date.
    • Fill in your info and the info of the faculty you are completing the assignment for.
    • Please be sure to indicate which studio is needed so that T.V. faculty signatures will be automatically requested if that studio is requested.
    • Attach all necessary documents
    • After completing and signing the document, it will be sent to the Production staff.
    • Once the document is signed by production staff, it will be automatically sent to the E-Center for processing.
  • Apply for an Request for On-Campus Film Permit after Sound Stage Reservation Form form has received all signatures 
    • 15 business days prior to the reservation date.
  • You are only approved to use the studio once both the completed Studio Reservation and Request for On-Campus film permit forms have been reviewed and you have received an approval email from the E-Center
    • Once you receive full approval, you will discuss studio access for your reservation with the E&F coordinator, which includes receiving a temporary access code to the Studio and picking up a door key.
    • A Checkout Form will be issued for reservation of the studio key and must be picked up on the Friday of your shoot between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM.
    • Campus police must be contacted to open any building doors on weekends.

Faculty in-class studio request

  • Complete this Sound Stage Reservation Form via DocuSign 
    • One week in advance
  • You are approved once you receive an approval email from E-Center.

Students may reserve space Monday through Friday in other areas of the campus for rehearsals, auditions, casting and other spaces. Weekend reservations are not allowed.

University Library Reservations

Reserving spaces in the library may require additional approval time, so please plan accordingly. In your request, a layout/overhead diagram of the location must be provided to show where filming will specifically take place. A Tech Scout with Library and CEO is required prior to filming. Faculty may also reserve alternative classroom locations in other areas of the campus by contacting the Campus Events Office to reserve these spaces. If these areas are going to be used to film in, an On-Campus Film Permit must be requested in advance. Please see the On-Campus film permit section under the Permits page.

Reserving FEA Department Rooms

Faculty wanting to reserve department rooms during their scheduled class time can make the request internally by emailing both

 

  • Submit email requests at least 2 days prior to reservation date.
  • Reservation of UTC 127 requires an Event Request Form
  • If the reservation is made outside of scheduled class time, an Event Request Form is now necessary. 

 

Reserving (Non-Department) Rooms on Campus

Faculty may reserve alternative classroom locations in other areas of the campus by submitting an Event Request Form to the Campus Events Office.

  • Faculty should email the filled out request form directly to Pamela.Jesse@csulb.edu.
  • Submit the request form at least 2 days prior to reservation date.

  • 10am - 1pm
  • 1pm - 4pm
  • 4pm - 7pm

Reservation Policies

  • Requests require that a current FEA Student Computer Use Agreement Form be on file, which includes having read and agreed to the safety, cleaning, and reservation guidelines.
  • It is strongly recommended that you send an email to the E-Center at least 24 business hours in advance.
  • You do not have to CC your instructor for Room reservations, except for the following:
    • You must CC your instructor for ADR, Foley, and 5.1 mix room requests.
  • Please see the Facilities section for which rooms you may access.
  • Reservations in the ADR, Foley, and mix room are limited to 3 hours maximum per day during designated time slots. This is to allow time for other students requiring these rooms.
    • The time slots are 10am-1pm1pm-4pm, or 4pm-7pm
  • There is no eating or drinking in FEA facilities.
  • You may request a specific computer operating system, but we cannot guarantee that the requested OS will be available.
  • Although you may request a specific OS, specific computer station numbers may not be requested, they will be assigned to you.
  • Walk-in reservations are possible for FA-1 203, however email requests will take precedence over any walk-ins.
  • Operating hours may vary and access to FEA Computers may be cancelled or changed at any time.

Day of Reservation

  • Upon arrival, please check-in with the Equipment Center in UTC 207.
  • You must present your student ID card to confirm your reservation.

Reservation Format

Email Subject

  • Subject line must only include Reservation date, Name, and Class/section.

Sample:

  • 2/15/18 - Vincent Vega - FEA 307-1

Email Body

  • The body should only include Computer type, software, reservation date, start/end time, and your contact information.

Sample:

Hello E-Center,

I would like to request a reservation for an Apple computer to use ProTools on 2/15/18 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
