49er Industry Chats: Write Your Book: The Odyssey of an English Major

Joshua Peralta is a writer and teacher based in Oakland, CA. His first book is 3rd & Orange, a novella composed of poetry and prose, whose inspiration springs from the decade he spent in Long Beach, attending LBCC and CSULB and trying to figure out an acceptable professional path. Over the years, he has published in various genres, online and in print, been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, as well as presented original scholarship at the Long Beach Historical Society, the University of Warwick, England, and elsewhere. Peralta's next project is a new biographical portrait of the young John Fante (1909-83). The roots of this project trace back to a 2006 senior seminar on John Fante taught by Fante's biographer, CSULB Professor Stephen Cooper.
