Students, staff, and faculty from across campus are invited to attend our EdWeek 2022 events April 4-9, right after Spring Break. In collaboration with the CSULB Career Development Center, the CED EdWeek planning team has organized an incredible line up of events to showcase the field of Education. This year, we are offering some career preparation sessions in addition to special sessions focused on important contemporary topics in education and mental health. Some of the special presentations include: CED alumni presentations, Mental Health Awareness and Trauma (Long Beach Trauma Center), Men in Education (COESA organized), Current Perspectives on International Education, and a Deliberative Dialogues Event on Teaching about Race and Racism during a time of censorship and political backlash. The week culminates in the in-person Educator Job Fair on Friday, April 8 and Math for Educators at The Beach on Saturday, April 9. Shark Lab Virtual K-12 Programs | Zoom

Our new K-12 live education programs use sharks and technology as a way of getting students interested in STEM fields. Our curricula will expose students to dynamic and interesting fields across disciplines and invoke excitement about marine science and beyond. Lunar Layout | HSCI, Room 282
5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
In this activity students model the phases of the moon by using a ping pong ball and incorporates the use of a protractor to measure angle measurements for position. This activity helps with the spatial ideas of the Moon-Earth-Sun system. Students will also use gallery walk to check one another's ideas about the moon phases from top view versus the view from Earth.

Math at the Beach: Intergrating SEL into Inclusive Math Classrom | Zoom

Our theme this year for Math at the Beach is Integrating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) into Inclusive Math Classroom. Our goal is to provide educators with a space to discuss ways in which they have implemented SEL in diverse classroom to support all student math learning. We want educators to discuss strategies, tips, and tools they have used to ensure student learning of math with SEL skills with fun and interactive activities or tasks. We hope to encompass the experiences of math education at the elementary, middle, and high school level.
